The basic security training course is a 12 to 40 hour course held over a 1 day period. In this course the Trainee will have the basic understanding of a Security Officer to include the duties, responsibilies, and laws that govern them in the State of Colorado and the United States of America. This course will certify you to become an Unarmed Security Officer.  

Overview of the basic security training course:

  • Nature, role and duties of the private security officer
  • Private security officer professional conduct and ethics
  • Preservation of evidence, investigation and crime scene security
  • Principles of communication
  • Observation and incident reporting
  • Federal, State and local laws, codes and ordinances
  • Use of force as it relates to legal powers
  • Legal limitations and liability implications
  • Interaction and cooperation with local law enforcement
  • Seize and searches, Terry Pat down and Handcuffing techniques
  • Emergency response procedures, to include basic principles of first aid
